The headquarters of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee (LOC) hosted a workshop on applying green construction standards to preparations for Russia 2018. The event, organised by the LOC with the support of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, was attended by Russian and foreign experts, as well as representatives of design organisations, construction companies, real estate developers and regional environmental agencies.
“What we’re now seeing is how preparations for the first World Cup in Russia are becoming a catalyst for important changes in all sorts of areas of life," Sorokin said. "Building World Cup stadiums in accordance with Russia’s green standard will allow us to create resource-effective, safe and comfortable football arenas, as well as taking environmental responsibility to a whole new level throughout the country."

It is no accident that St. Petersburg's Konstantinovsky Palace was chosen as the venue for the first board meeting of the year that brings together the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee (LOC) and representatives of FIFA. Back in the 18th century, the palace, which sits on the stunning shoreline of the Gulf of Finland, surrounded by a number of magnificent parks and canals, served as one of the residences of the Russian imperial family. Later this year, on 25 July, it will host the first official event in the build-up to Russia 2018: the Preliminary Draw.
FIFA confident Zenit Arena will be ready for World Cup 2018

FIFA have no doubts the Zenit Arena in St Petersburg will be completed in time for the 2018 World Cup after an inspection on Thursday. "I have no doubts that the venue will be ready in time," ITAR-TASS news agency quoted FIFA inspection committee head Christian Unger as saying after his team toured the construction site of the 70,000-seat venue, which is expected to go into service in May 2016. "I believe it will be one of the best venues in Russia. A perfect arena in a perfect place."
Transstroy commissioned the Tommot-Yakutsk railway line

The Tommot-Yakutsk railway line, the last section of the Amur-Yakutsk Mainline, was commissioned on July 30, 2014. Now it is open for delivery of equipment, of manufactured and food items. The line will be open for passenger traffic in 2015.

Vladimir Putin visited the newly built Otkrytiye Arena Stadium. The President also inspected via video linkup several other stadiums that are being readied for the FIFA World Cup: Luzhniki in Moscow, Zenit Arena in St Petersburg, and Yubileiny in Saransk.
Transstroy launches utilities installation at new stadium in St. Petersburg, Russia

Transstroy, general contractor of the construction of a stadium on Krestovsky island , has started installation of utilities, one of the most technologically sophisticated and extensive construction stages. Over 1,000 km of cable, about 600 switchboards and one of the largest data centers in Russia will be installed at the stadium.

Transstroy has released official pictures of how the new stadium in St Petersburg will look. The images are released as Transstroy start the building of the stadium’s exterior. When completed new stadium will be one of the biggest in Eastern Europe. It will host a semi-final of the 2018 World Cup and form a new home for Zenit St Petersburg Football Club.
